Jr. Rebels Camp offers a diverse curriculum for children ages 5 to 12. The culmination of various activities will allow campers to challenge themselves and embrace new experiences.

Take your mountain game to the next level with Outdoor Adventures on our most challenging trek yet: the ascent of Mummy’s Nose. This isn't our typical hike; it’s an advanced alpine expedition that will push your limits as we tackle nearly 3,000 feet of elevation gain in just 2.5 miles. Prepare to navigate rugged limestone ridges, scramble through ancient Bristlecone Pine forests, and master a thrilling Class 3 rock chute as we reach the 10,751-foot summit. The reward is a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the Mt. Charleston Wilderness that few ever get to see. Space is limited for this technical adventure—grab your boots and join us for the ultimate high-altitude rush! This trip includes transportation, equipment, instruction, and food.

Escape the desert heat and ascend into the cool, alpine beauty of Mt. Charleston with Outdoor Adventures on our Cathedral Rock expedition. This rewarding 2.8-mile round-trip journey winds through towering Ponderosa pines and shimmering aspen groves, offering a steady climb that leads to one of the most iconic overlooks in southern Nevada. As we reach the summit of this massive limestone outcropping, you will be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the Echo Cliffs, Kyle Canyon, and the majestic 11,916-foot Charleston Peak. This moderate hike is the perfect high-altitude getaway for beginner and mid-level hikers looking for a manageable challenge with a massive visual payoff.

Go paddling down the Colorado River with Outdoor Adventures! This trip features a 4-mile round-trip canoe journey on the stunning green waters of the Colorado River as we make our way to the famous Emerald Cove. This beginner-friendly paddle is great for both new and experienced canoers—no prior experience required.

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding classes are designed to teach you not only the basics in water safety but also the proper protocol when dealing with any emergencies around water. The Red Cross blends both traditional lecture style and crucial hands-on training in order to teach you effective techniques to deliver prompt care to those in need. After successful completion of the course, participants will be certified in Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid.

This is a blended course; an online component will be issued to you at least 5 days before the course. If you do not receive this email at least five days before the course, please contact srwc.aquatics@unlv.edu.

Prerequisites for the course must be successfully demonstrated on the first day of class. The prerequisites for this course are:
Part 1:
150-yard swim on front (no back or side stroke)
Immediate transition to hands-free 2-minute tread
Immediate transition to 50-yard swim on front ( no back or side stroke)
for a total of 200 yards, with a 2-minute tread between the 150 & final 50 yards.
Part 2:
In under 1 minute and 40 seconds:
Enter the water feet first
Swim on front 15-25 yards
Surface dive (head or feet first) to 9ft depth
Retrieve a 10-pound brick
Return to the surface
With both hands on the brick, and keeping the face above the water, kick on back to the starting point
Exit the water without a ladder

Class schedule:
June 12: 12:00 pm-6:00 pm
June 13: 9:00 am-5:00 pm
June 14: 10:00 am-7:00 pm

Note: No refunds will be given to participants once the first day of class has begun. This is a multiple-day course. Participants must attend the entire course to qualify for certification.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT: YOUR CHILD MUST BE REGISTERED IN SRWC YOUTH CAMPS IN ORDER TO REGISTER

What to Expect

Our youth swimming classes are designed to meet every child where they are. We recognize that every swimmer develops at their own pace; our instructors provide personalized attention to ensure everyone masters the fundamentals comfortably and safely.

What They'll Learn

The Learn-to-Swim program focuses on building skills one step at a time. By allowing them to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water.

During their swim lessons, children will spend time on the following levels:

Pre-School 1: Orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and help them acquire rudimentary water skills.
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
Level 2: Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills
Level 3: Stroke Development

All children who are not 100% potty trained are required to wear swim diapers.

Cost: $50/ session (Session includes three 30-minute lessons.
