Looking for an adventure over spring break? Join Outdoor Adventures for an overnight camping and hiking trip to Death Valley National Park—America’s driest and lowest national park. We’ll explore towering sand dunes, expansive salt flats, and colorful badlands during the day, then stargaze from our campsite at night. This trip includes transportation, food, instruction, and all necessary equipment.

This trip features a 4-mile round-trip canoe journey on the stunning green waters of the Colorado River as we make our way to the famous Emerald Cove. This beginner-friendly paddle is great for both new and experienced canoers—no prior experience required. The trip includes transportation, equipment, instruction, and food.

Known for its vibrant rock formations and unique geological features, this park offers some of the most striking scenery in the U.S.—and on this trip, you’ll get to hike through it. Ever wanted to descend into a canyon and explore it from within? This canyoneering expedition to Yankee Doodle Canyon in Utah offers exactly that! This beginner-friendly slot canyon is perfect for anyone seeking the thrill of adventure—no prior experience required. This trip also includes a mandatory 2-hour learning session on April 9 at the climbing wall, where participants will be taught all the essential knots and techniques needed for the canyon descent. The trip includes transportation, equipment, instruction, and food.

Join UNLV Outdoor Adventures for our annual Rebel Rumble Bouldering competition. This competition is open to all levels of experience, from first-time competitors to veteran climbers. We will have divisions open for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Competitors for those who identify as male, female, or non-binary. Everyone who competes is eligible to win prizes, whether they make it on the podium or not!

Event starts at 3 pm and ends at 9 pm.

Cost $5 for SRWC Members with current climb pass, $15 for non-members

Join us for an incredible three-day adventure as we explore the world-renowned Zion National Park! Over the course of the trip, we’ll hike some of Zion’s most iconic trails—including the Emerald Pools—as well as discover hidden gems and less-traveled routes within the park. Evenings will be spent around the campfire with warm food, s’mores, and plenty of time to connect with fellow students under the stars. Are you a new or experienced climber looking for a beginner-friendly outdoor climbing experience? Join Outdoor Adventures for your first outdoor climb! This trip includes an optional “Gym to Crag” session that will teach you all the essential skills you need before climbing outside—such as setting anchors, tying knots, and managing a crag environment. The trip includes equipment, instruction, transportation, and food.

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding classes are designed to teach you not only the basics in water safety but also the proper protocol when dealing with any emergencies around water. The Red Cross blends both traditional lecture style and crucial hands-on training in order to teach you effective techniques to deliver prompt care to those in need. After successful completion of the course, participants will be certified in Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid.

This is a blended course; an online component will be issued to you at least 5 days before the course. If you do not receive this email at least five days before the course, please contact srwc.aquatics@unlv.edu.

Prerequisites for the course must be successfully demonstrated on the first day of class. The prerequisites for this course are:
Part 1:
150-yard swim on front (no back or side stroke)
Immediate transition to hands-free 2-minute tread
Immediate transition to 50-yard swim on front ( no back or side stroke)
for a total of 200 yards, with a 2-minute tread between the 150 & final 50 yards.
Part 2:
In under 1 minute and 40 seconds:
Enter the water feet first
Swim on front 15-25 yards
Surface dive (head or feet first) to 9ft depth
Retrieve a 10-pound brick
Return to the surface
With both hands on the brick, and keeping the face above the water, kick on back to the starting point
Exit the water without a ladder

March 20: 4:00 pm-8:30 pm
March 21: 8:00 am-5:00 pm
March 22: 10:00 am-7:00pm

Note: No refunds will be given to participants once the first day of class has begun. This is a multiple-day course. Participants must attend the entire course to qualify for certification.

ADULT SWIM LABS
This class is designed for adults who are new to swimming or want to build confidence in the water. Whether you’ve never learned to swim or feel uneasy in the pool, this supportive, judgment-free class focuses on the basics at a comfortable pace.
You’ll learn essential water safety skills, breathing techniques, floating, and foundational swim strokes. Instructors provide clear guidance, encouragement, and individualized feedback to help you feel safe and confident every step of the way.
No prior swimming experience is required—just a willingness to learn. Come as you are and discover that it’s never too late to learn how to swim.

ADULT MASTERS
This class is for adults who are comfortable in the water and have basic swimming skills but want to improve technique, endurance, and confidence. Swimmers should be able to swim at least one length of the pool independently. Participants will work on refining stroke mechanics, breathing efficiency, turns, and pacing, while building overall strength and stamina. Structured drills and guided practice help swimmers progress at a steady, supportive pace in a group setting. Perfect for adults looking to swim more efficiently, prepare for fitness or lap swimming, or simply feel more confident and capable in the water.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your scheduled class. We ask that you rinse off before entering the pool.

Cost: $50/ session (Session includes four 30-minute lessons. Must hold a current membership. This price does not include membership or parking fees. There are no refunds for missed classes.)

All Adult Group Swim Lesson Participants must have an SRWC Membership. Memberships can be purchased at the front desk before the first lesson. Parking is not included in our swim lesson fees. The most convenient parking is located in the Tropicana Parking Garage. This lot has signs to pay for parking via cell phone. There is also a free parking lot (lot S) about a 10-minute walk away. Rebel Rec Triathlon & 5K Run

Kick off Spring Break with a challenge! Join us on Thursday, March 6th, for our annual Rebel Rec Triathlon and 5K Run.

Participants will begin with a 5K run. From there, you can choose to finish strong or take it to the next level by completing the full triathlon:

5K Run

10K Indoor Bike Ride

300-Yard Swim

The first heat begins at 8:00 a.m.

After registering, you’ll receive a confirmation email the week prior to the event with additional event details and your assigned heat start time. Please note that heat times are subject to change based on total enrollment.
